About Us

Richard has over 20 years experience of working with finance and operations teams from multi national corporations to start ups to UHNWs. Equally as comfortable in the boardroom as he is rolling his sleeves up, Richard started his advisory service to support companies who most needed a senior FD without the need for a full time salary.

Since 2016 Birchland Advisors has worked with a variety of companies turning over £1m to £20m, with managed outsourced teams or internal teams, from internet platforms to clothing brands and with a payroll of 3 to multi location 150 people organisations.

Richard is never more fulfilled than when he sees the transformation of the finance outputs and the impact it has on a companies decision making ability.

Living in Hertfordshire, with his wife and three (updated Nov 2021!) young, energetic kids (!) work allows him to escape from the misery of being a Spurs fan (and to pay for holidays).

Laura began her financial career in audit,  building a strong foundation in financial reporting and control environments, managing to work on international clients from New York to the Congo.

After qualifying she went on to gain experience as an FC in a variety of different businesses, from small tech start-ups where she had to grow the entire finance team, to FTSE 100 listed companies.

After 9 years in finance Laura fulfilled her dream of starting her own business, and ran a successful retail business with several stores across London and the south coast.

Two children later, and the realisation that finance is actually what she enjoys best, she now joins Birchland Advisors, drawing on her broad experience to help growing companies who need senior financial support.

When she isn’t engrossed in a spreadsheet she is kept busy by her young family in south London, trying to get out on her bike, but more likely to be tidying up Lego.
